The New Power Couple

Recently, my dear friend Moi featured a post entitled "Power Couple" on her lovely yellow blog. She featured one of the most stylish, sexy, sassy couples of all time, Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg:

This got me thinking more about modern power couples who might fit into the exceptionally fashionable category, and I was reminded of one of the great fictional duos, featured on a silly but insanely stylish show whose third season I've recently been catching up on: Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass, of the Upper East Side, and Gossip Girl Fame.

B: "3 words, 8 letters. Say it and I'm yours."

Yes, these characters may be fictional, but for supposed 18/19 year-olds they are seriously crazysexycool, plus Blair got THE Chuck Bass to say "I Love You" So, super-stylish power couple,  pretty exciting stuff, and the clothes! ohh, the clothes, and the bags, and the shoes... and the headbands.

B: "I know you. You're Chuck Bass"
CB: "I'm not Chuck Bass without you"
CB: "Blair. We both know you'll never be completely trustworthy. And I admit it's not my strong suit either. But it's part of what keeps things interesting between us."
B:"And why we make a great team" ...
CB: "No, in order to be a team, we need to focus our duplicity on others."
B:"But what if it's my way of showing I love you?"
CB: "Well I can think of better ways."
CB: "I'm Chuck Bass. And I told you I love you. You're saying I'm easier to win over than a bunch of pseudo-intellectual homesick malcontents. You'd really insult me like this?"
B: "That's not how it is" ...
CB: "That's exactly how it is. So the next time you forget you're Blair Waldorf, remember I'm Chuck Bass. And I love you."
So, whether at Cotillion or Chucks Penthouse; buying Hotels or opening Clubs; mastering Deception or plotting Revenge/Sabotage, these two Lovebirds/Evil Masterminds are entirely powerful, and entirely perfect for each other, and Leighton Meester is entirely a babe (but fairly ridiculous when singing dance music, and video-ing with Robin Thicke.  So now I have to share something entirely not GG or Power Couple related.  Check out the video below, I promise you will not regret it).

..."it's hard to find a mate when you're gone before he wakes"

During my last visit to NYC this past November, a certain very sophisticated NY-transplant bff of mine admitted that she had delegated Leighton her token girl-crush. Then we stumbled upon this, and watched it incessantly... And now I am going to be really disappointed if everyone reading this is not as amused as I am.

"Je t'adore, Je t'adore... You say Hello, I say Goodbye, Je t'adore."
We make our own fortunes, and call them fate. And what better excuse to choose a path than to insist it's our destiny?
"You Know You Love Me" xoxo, Gossip Girl

That video is too much. Homegirl is cray cray! I've only seen one episode of Gossip Girl but it was terribly good. I can't wait to start the series from the very beginning!

it is terribly good, the dialogue is amazing, hence my copious quote posting. I watched most of the first season then sort of forgot about it, but just picked up on the third and it is banannaas! i'm going to do more GG style posts, i got tons of pics of the girls.
totally inspired by your power couple idea too, i want to do it on the reg, so far i've got george harrison and patti, mick jagger and marianne faithfull, and kate and johnny depp in the works, any suggestions?
