Deal of the Day!

Ack!  Okay, I know this dress isn't exactly cheap, but it is on sale, and just a couple days ago I was admiring it on my fave TV fashionista, Blair Waldorf!

Dress: $369.60 (originally $528, 30% off), at Shopbop. Blair in GG episode "Inglorious Bassterds", via CWTV.

The model even looks like Blair! Coincidence? I don't think so.
I realize at this point these posts could probably be called "(MXMJ) Deal of the Day", and I'll work on that, promise... the line just gets me so excited!

Happy deal-hunting my loves, xo Caitlin.

Late Weekend... Party Post!

Hey Dolls, sorry I've fallen a little behind on my posting... believe me all I wanna do is blog fashion, but little annoyances like "midterms" and "senior thesis" are really crampin my style.

I feel particularly bad about missing my regularly scheduled Thursday night Pre-Weekend post.  Still, even though the weekend is well underway,  there is plenty of partying to be done, and so, with the help of one of my favorite party babes from one of my favorite glamor shows:
The (late) Weekend Party Post!

Serena Van Der Wooden, Heiress of the Upper East Side, always a babe but particularly striking in a Stella McCartney Fall 2009 RTW bodycon lace-paneled jersey dress:

And here are some more (and less) affordable and available options:

That's all for now fashion queens!  I don't think I'm going to get to go out tonight, but if you're reading, and you, do raise a glass of bubbly (or V&T) to your hard working blogger du mode (and if you live nearby take a little detour, I am starving and would love a little delivery), I'm always thinking of you.  xoxo, Caitlin.

The New Power Couple

Recently, my dear friend Moi featured a post entitled "Power Couple" on her lovely yellow blog. She featured one of the most stylish, sexy, sassy couples of all time, Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg:

This got me thinking more about modern power couples who might fit into the exceptionally fashionable category, and I was reminded of one of the great fictional duos, featured on a silly but insanely stylish show whose third season I've recently been catching up on: Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass, of the Upper East Side, and Gossip Girl Fame.

B: "3 words, 8 letters. Say it and I'm yours."

Yes, these characters may be fictional, but for supposed 18/19 year-olds they are seriously crazysexycool, plus Blair got THE Chuck Bass to say "I Love You" So, super-stylish power couple,  pretty exciting stuff, and the clothes! ohh, the clothes, and the bags, and the shoes... and the headbands.

B: "I know you. You're Chuck Bass"
CB: "I'm not Chuck Bass without you"
CB: "Blair. We both know you'll never be completely trustworthy. And I admit it's not my strong suit either. But it's part of what keeps things interesting between us."
B:"And why we make a great team" ...
CB: "No, in order to be a team, we need to focus our duplicity on others."
B:"But what if it's my way of showing I love you?"
CB: "Well I can think of better ways."
CB: "I'm Chuck Bass. And I told you I love you. You're saying I'm easier to win over than a bunch of pseudo-intellectual homesick malcontents. You'd really insult me like this?"
B: "That's not how it is" ...
CB: "That's exactly how it is. So the next time you forget you're Blair Waldorf, remember I'm Chuck Bass. And I love you."
So, whether at Cotillion or Chucks Penthouse; buying Hotels or opening Clubs; mastering Deception or plotting Revenge/Sabotage, these two Lovebirds/Evil Masterminds are entirely powerful, and entirely perfect for each other, and Leighton Meester is entirely a babe (but fairly ridiculous when singing dance music, and video-ing with Robin Thicke.  So now I have to share something entirely not GG or Power Couple related.  Check out the video below, I promise you will not regret it).

..."it's hard to find a mate when you're gone before he wakes"

During my last visit to NYC this past November, a certain very sophisticated NY-transplant bff of mine admitted that she had delegated Leighton her token girl-crush. Then we stumbled upon this, and watched it incessantly... And now I am going to be really disappointed if everyone reading this is not as amused as I am.

"Je t'adore, Je t'adore... You say Hello, I say Goodbye, Je t'adore."
We make our own fortunes, and call them fate. And what better excuse to choose a path than to insist it's our destiny?
"You Know You Love Me" xoxo, Gossip Girl
